Land

Land is permanent, man disappears

Environment Bay of Plenty assists Bay of Plenty communities in appropriate land use issues as well as provides advice on pest control techniques.

Why is land so important?
Our land is a non-renewable resource, therefore we need to protect it and use it wisely. It is also home to native wildlife and plants, so our land (their habitat) needs to be protected to ensure their survival. We need to understand the land to use it in a sustainable manner.

Within the Environment Bay of Plenty’s land section you will find information relating to:

  • Bay of Plenty land
  • Pest animals
  • Pest plants
  • Plans relating to land
  • Soil conservation
  • Transport
  • Waste

For more information relating to Land, Water, Coast and Air please contact Environment Bay of Plenty on 0800 ENV BOP (368 267) or email us at info@envbop.govt.nz.

  • Videos

Environment Bay of Plenty has a series of seven how-to videos. Included are videos on how to help you deal with pest animals like rabbits and possums, or weeds like woolly nightshade. There are videos on planting and erosion control and also how to trap mustelids.

The videos are available for rental from Environment Bay of Plenty offices in Whakatane, Tauranga and Rotorua. There is also a series of fact sheets available to assist you as a reference. Please contact Environment Bay of Plenty for more information.
