Otara at Opotiki Town Wharf

Environment Bay of Plenty, with the
assistance of the Opotiki Coast Guard, operates the Otara at Town Wharf water
level and rainfall recorder to collect storm, flood and tide information in the
lower Otara and Waioeka Rivers.
Levels are in terms of Chart datum; to convert to
Moturiki datum subtract 0.96m from displayed readings.
The site
records a mean annual rainfall of 1200 mm and daily falls of up to 150 mm.
