Site Info:

The Thornton water level and rainfall recorder is situated 4 km upstream from the sea and measures tidal influences as well as water levels in the lower Rangitaiki River.

Levels are in terms of Chart datum; to convert to Moturiki datum subtract 0.96m from the displayed readings.

The site has a mean annual rainfall of 1300mm and daily falls of up to 220mm.
