Kaituna at Te Matai


Site Info:

The Kaituna at Te Matai water level and rainfall recorder is situated in the mid Kaituna catchment where the river passes under State Highway 2.

Water levels at this site are subject to fluctuations from management of Lake Rotoiti water levels and tidal influences. Summer water levels at this site can get as low as 0.27 metres, but normal water levels are closer to 0.9 metres. A high flood level of 4.72 metres was recorded at this site in May 1999.

The site records a mean annual rainfall of 1300 mm and daily falls of up to 230 mm.
