HazMobile

If it’s toxic, get rid of it!HazMobile Battery

Many people’s sheds and garages have collections of old – and often dangerous - paints, chemicals, poisons and cleaning products. Sound familiar? If so, make your home safer by having a big clean out when the HazMobile visits the Bay of Plenty in March.

HazMobile Paint

The HazMobile is a collection service for household hazardous waste. Hazardous waste can be very dangerous. Hazardous products can react with one another and cause a fire or toxic fumes. Children can poison themselves. A container may leak and contaminate the soil or groundwater, and ultimately streams, rivers, lakes and ocean.
 HazMobile Bugspray
If you put hazardous waste with the rest of the household rubbish, the people picking it up can be injured, sometimes severely. And hazardous waste that ends up in a landfill can pollute the environment.

So make the most of it when the HazMobile visits an area near you. It will be setting up in Tauranga, Omokoroa, Opotiki and Whakatane this year.

We’ll see you there!

For more information, call your local district or city council or Environment Bay of Plenty on 0800 ENV BOP (368 267).

HazMobile PoisonMake sure all containers are in good condition so they travel safety to the HazMobile. That means no holes and no leaky lids! Transport them upright and secured so they cannot fall over. Leaking containers must be re-contained first (outside if possible) in buckets with a lid or inside plastic or glass containers that can be sealed. Please label the container clearly.
