Election 2010

Local Elections 2010 will be held this year on 9 October 2010. This page will be updated as new information is available, however key dates are below. 

Representation structure

The Bay of Plenty region is divided into seven constituencies. These are:

General

• Tauranga - four members
• Western Bay of Plenty - two members
• Rotorua - two members
• Eastern Bay of Plenty - two members

Maori

• Kohi - one member
• Mauao - one member
• Okurei - one member

Total: 13 members

Key dates

• 2 March to 30 April 2010 - Ratepayer roll enrolment confirmation forms sent
• 21 July 2010 - Public notice of election, nominations called for
• 23 July 2010 - Nominations open
• 20 August 2010 - Nominations close 12 noon/roll closes
• 25 August 2010 - Public notice of day of election and candidate names released
• By 13 September 2010 - Electoral officer certifies final electoral roll
• 17 September to 22 September 2010 - Delivery of voting documents; Special voting period; Early processing period
• Saturday 9 October 2010 - Election Day - Voting closes 12 noon – counting commences; Preliminary results available as soon as practicable after close of voting
• After 12pm 9 October to 13 October 2010 - Official count available
• 14 October to 20 October 2010 (or as soon as practicable) - Declaration of result/public notice of results
